DOMESTIC DISCO

Tomorrow night, I am going to the disco. At 6 pm (ha!). The Domestic Disco is a group art exhibition launching Friday at The Feel, a creative studio in Cypress Park, LA. Over 30 artists will be showing works that explore reflection, movement, and the domestic interior. There will be faceted, light-bending, mirrored marvels in all of their shimmering forms. Local artists and designers were invited to submit fun but also functional objects - those that blend artistry with everyday use. There will be lots of shine, sheen, and sparkle, and a playlist curated by each of the artists at the opening on March 20 from 5-7 pm. The exhibition is on view through April 24.

REVEL, A MAXIMALIST’S GUIDE TO HAVING PEOPLE OVER

Mariana Velásquez is a food stylist, chef, and Creative Director who has just released her second cookbook, Revel: A Maximalist’s Guide to Having People Over. I discovered her not through the book, but through an apron—part of her line of tablecloths, napkins, placemats, and charming hosting essentials. Revel is built around 15 menus organized by time of day rather than season or ingredient, grounded in the idea that you can host whenever the mood strikes. There is also a thoughtful section on taking care of yourself before guests arrive. “An empty vessel has nothing to give,” she writes, a reminder I needed. Her guiding trio for any gathering: red lips, red wine, and a roast chicken.
